synchropress®-technology

power meets precision

That means achieving ram movements with precision ranging from 3.94 in/sec to >11.81 in/sec / 0.001 mm/sec - >300 mm/sec, accurate within a few micrometers.

This implies from the very first cautious testing or fine-tuning to highly dynamic 3-shift production, everything can be realized on synchropress®.

advanced technology with minimal infrastructure investment

synchropress® does not require a special machine foundation or any other structural modifications. Particularly, the machine's height is quite low compared to other presses, which is a crucial advantage, especially in buildings with low ceiling heights. A synchropress® is usually delivered as a complete press to your location. Even for presses with a pressing force of 6,000 kN and more, the time required from installation start to full operation is just a few days.

parallelism

Thanks to the synchronized movement of the planetary roller screws even at the highest load, parallelism between the table and ram is always maintained. This allows for control of extremely off-center loads. For instance, with a synchropress® featuring 4,000 kN pressing force and a usable table length of 118.11 in / 3 m, a tilting moment of up to 3,200 kNm can be managed.

joystick operation

The movements of a synchropress® can be controlled very sensitively, for instance, during tool insertion, using the joystick. The operator can thus adjust the speeds individually to the current situation.

sensitive monitoring of pressing force

synchropress® is force-monitored, meaning that the forces of the individual planetary roller screws are constantly monitored and displayed for control during every press stroke. This allows for the definition of force limits (envelope curves) for monitoring throughout the entire stroke. The short travel distance in case of malfunctions often help prevent damage to the tools.

press forces and dimensions

The press forces of the synchropress® machines range from 500 kN to 10,000 kN. The synchropress® system also allows for larger press forces. The dimensions of the presses can be freely chosen by the customer. Due to the modular design principle of synchropress®, it is possible to create, for example, very long press tables without incurring high additional costs.

integration of additional operations

For complex manufacturing parts where additional operations are required besides punching and forming, these operations can be integrated into the process. This necessitates additional processing stations within the press, hence requiring an extended workspace. With synchropress®, the interior of the press can be customized, including the length and the depth of the press table.

holing under load – slow motions under load

Thanks to the synchropress® principle, it is possible to hold the pressing force (up to the maximum force) nearly infinitely, optionally without the need for energy input. Very slow movements at full pressing force are also feasible. For instance, holding operations under significant force can be achieved, with subsequent adjustments for settling actions.

monitoring of processes

The 'brain' of a synchropress® is based on a PC control. This allows for the integration of various additional sensors and actuators into the stamping process. By integrating the press PC into the company network, nearly all data from the manufacturing process can be transferred to higher-level systems.

energy management

A ram movement of a synchropress® is a interplay between energy demand and energy surplus. The energy surplus is stored in capacitors within the system and made available for the next energy demand. The actual energy demand is reduced to the portion required for the process itself.

low consumption – low energy peaks

synchropress® is characterized by inherently low energy consumption. Furthermore, any energy peaks that may be required in the process are smoothed out by the system. This significantly reduces the peaks that burden the power supply network.

limited power supply

Sometimes, there is only a limited power supply available in a facility or department. In such cases, a synchropress® with high power requirements can still be operated. The maximum current consumption of the synchropress® is throttled to match the power limit provided by the facility. This might result in the maximum pressing force being available only at slightly lower speeds.

no oil

The lubrication system of a synchropress® operates without oil. The lubrication of the planetary roller screw is oil-free and fully encapsulated. The guiding of the press ram is also based on an oil-free system.

low noise emissions

synchropress® is considered very quiet due to its purely electric drive. The noise emissions from the processes occurring in the press are also greatly minimized thanks to the rigid structure of the press.

very low maintenance effort

Typically, a maintenance contract is established with our customer. This means that no maintenance effort is required for the operator of the synchropress®. The maintenance intervals are adjusted to the operating conditions.

pressing or pulling – both are possible

Due to the planetary roller screws, with synchropress® it is possible not only to apply forces in the closing direction, but also in the opposite direction. This means that almost the full press force can also be provided as tensile force by the press. This opens up completely new processes for some users.
